4A GSHL football: Skyview 42, Heritage 28

Nate Arriola rushed for 247 yards on 33 carries to power Skyview to a 42-28, come-from-behind victory over Heritage in a Class 4A Greater St. Helens League game Friday at McKenzie Stadium.

Arriola rushed for 167 yards and two touchdowns in the second half as Skyview rallied from a 21-7 deficit.

The turning point in the game early in the fourth quarter when Jacob Dennis intercepted a pass at the Heritage 43 and returned deep inside Heritage territory.

On the play, Heritage quarterback Loren Standiford was knocked from the game with concussion-like symptoms and did not return.

Two plays later, Skyview quarterback Zac Shomler completed a 23-yard touchdown pass play to Noah Bonner, giving Skyview a 28-21 lead with 10:02 to play.

With their starting quarterback out of the game, Heritage struggled to move the ball and Arriola took over for Skyview.

The senior running back rushed for 81 yards on his last nine carries after the Storm took the lead, including two touchdown runs.

Heritage’s top receiver E’Lon Mack suffered an ankle injury during the game, which twice sent him to the sideline for treatment. He returned, but was clearly not at top form.

In addition to his interception, Dennis caught three passes for 101 yards and scored two touchdowns for Skyview.

Victor Duran caught six passes for 58 yards and two TDs for Heritage.
