PULLMAN — A large number of Washington State University alumni are expressing interest in retiring to Pullman.

An online survey conducted by school officials found that 28 percent of more than 1,000 respondents say they are interested in retiring on or near the WSU campus. Most were interested in living in Pullman seasonally, about four months of the year.

Those findings follow national trends showing many Americans are retiring to college towns because of the amenities.

WSU director of real estate Mel Taylor says the university is not interesting in creating housing for retirees, but private developers might find the data useful.
