Knight boots SE Missouri St past Murray St 37-34

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) — Alexander Knight’s 30-yard field goal in overtime lifted Southeast Missouri State to a 37-34 upset victory over visiting Murray State in Ohio Valley Conference play Saturday.

Scott Lathrop threw for four touchdowns and ran for another to lead SE Missouri State (1-5, 1-2 OVC). Lathrop tied the game on an 18-yard scoring strike to Paul McRoberts at 27-27 with less than a minute to play in regulation.

Murray State (4-3, 2-1 OVC), trailed 20-6 in the third quarter, but mounted a come-back to take a 27-20 lead midway of the fourth.

Lathrop passed for 247 yards and rushed for another 94.

Maikhail Miller, who had four touchdowns and 292 yards passing for Murray State, threw to Walter Powell from 19 yards out for the initial overtime score.

Lathrop then hit McRoberts on a 15-yard scoring strike to tie the score 34-34.
