Letter: Leavitt’s record earns re-election

Vancouver Mayor Tim Leavitt has demonstrated vision, intelligence and the courage to stand up for what is right. His track record is proven and successful. He has led the city council through difficult economic times. He has leaned toward fiscal responsibility, efficiency and improved outcomes. As a taxpayer, I appreciate that attitude.

In contrast, Councilor Bill Turlay, Leavitt’s opponent, has an unremarkable record. By aligning himself with County Commissioner David Madore, Turlay has demonstrated where his true motives lie — with a radical minority fringe intent on tearing down our community. Their behavior and politics are similar with fear-mongering and hypocrisy.

We deserve better. I’m voting, without a doubt, to re-elect Leavitt.
