COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — Olympic and world champions Ryan Lochte and Katie Ledecky headline the U.S. team that will compete against some of Europe’s top swimmers in the Duel in the Pool Dec. 20-21 in Scotland.
The U.S. roster announced Thursday includes Olympic gold medalists Tyler Clary, Conor Dwyer, Anthony Ervin, Jessica Hardy and Cullen Jones. Among the gold medal-winning rising stars are Claire Donahue, Breeja Larson, Matt McLean and Shannon Vreeland.
Jack Bauerle of Georgia will coach the women’s team at the two-day short-course meet in Glasgow, while Eddie Reese of Texas will guide the men’s team.
The U.S. is undefeated in the 5-year-old event.
The European roster includes Michael Jamieson and Fran Halsall of Britain, along with Olympic champions Yannick Agnel, Fabien Gilot and Florent Manaudou of France, and two-time Olympic champion Ranomi Kromowidjojo of the Netherlands. Also on the team are Camille Muffat and Fred Bousquet of France and Hannah Miley of Scotland, and Lotte Friis of Denmark.
