KINGSTON, R.I. (AP) — Dylan Smith made all four of his field goal attempts, including the eventual game-winner as Rhode Island held on to defeat Richmond 12-10 Saturday.

Smith kicked field goals of 24, 47, 23 and the game-winning 19-yarder with 9:16 remaining for the Rams (3-5, 2-3 Colonial Athletic Association) who trailed 7-6 at halftime.

Behind 12-10 in the fourth quarter, Richmond (2-5, 0-3) had their chance to pull ahead. Driving on the Rams’ 33-yard line with less than two minutes remaining, Michael Strauss completed a 13-yard pass to Rashad Ponder, but Ponder fumbled to stop the drive.

Richmond had the only touchdown when Strauss threw a 25-yard TD pass to Jacobi Green in the first quarter. Strauss was 23 of 44 for 255 yards.

Rhode Island, who has not won in the series since 2003, breaks a four-game losing streak against Richmond. The Rams also avenge last season’s 39-0 loss.
