4 injured in crash involving deputy’s car

KENT — Three people were critically injured when a patrol car driven by a King County sheriff’s deputy struck their vehicle in Kent.

KOMO-TV reports that it’s not clear what caused the accident at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday. King County sheriff’s Sgt. Cindi West says the patrol car was traveling south, and the other car, an Acura driven by a 17-year-old, was headed east. They collided at an intersection that is controlled by a traffic light.

The patrol car hit the driver’s side of the Acura, and the deputy suffered a broken wrist in the crash. There were no indications that drugs or alcohol played a role.

The sheriff’s office is investigating.
