Ridgefield — Friends of the late Cathy Mayer, who died in 2004, continue to honor her life via the CAMEO Foundation and its annual “girls’ night out” fundraiser for charity.

The group’s ninth annual event, held on Oct. 10 at the historic Summit Grove Lodge, benefited three local charities, each of which received a check for $12,000 after the event. They are Blissful Escapes, which holds retreats for mothers with cancer; the Celebrate Me Foundation, which provides birthday parties for children of mothers with cancer; and the Pink Lemonade Project, which provides support for women with breast cancer.

More than 400 women attend every year, according to Marci Caputo, one of the event founders. “Mom would be so proud,” said 22 year old Kelsi Mayer.
