Southeastern Louisiana overwhelms Lamar 56-34

HAMMOND, La. (AP) — Bryan Bennett threw for 237 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for another 95 yards to lead Southeastern Louisiana to a 56-34 victory over Lamar Saturday.

Southeastern Louisiana (6-2. 3-0 Southland Conference) shares the conference lead with McNeese State.

Lamar (3-5, 0-3) jumped out to a 14-0 lead on Caleb Berry scoring passes of 40 yards to Mark Roberts and 19 yards to Michael Handy.

The Lions quickly regrouped and scored the next four touchdowns to go in at the half with a 28-14 lead. They also scored on their first possession of the second half when Bennett hit Marquis Fruge’ on a 31-yard scoring strike. Rasheed Harrell scored on a 27-yard rushing play to put the Lions ahead 42-14 in the third. Lamar added another TD as Berry, who finished with 299 yards and four touchdowns, hit Kade Harrington from the 8 to make it 42-21.
