SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim is ready for his 38th season at his alma mater and has a wealth of talent on his roster.
Expect another solid season from a team that finished 30-10 last season, after a five-point loss to Michigan in the national semifinals.
Boeheim runs the opposite of a “one-and-done” program, so he can usually count on a least one veteran to lead the way. He couldn’t ask for more this year with the return of 6-foot-8 forward C.J. Fair and 6-10 center Baye Moussa Keita.
Fair, who as a junior led the Orange with 14.5 points and seven rebounds per game, was voted preseason ACC player of the year, while Keita was solid over the final 10 games of last season and averaged 7.3 rebounds in the Orange’s four-game August exhibition sojourn to Canada.
Boeheim’s recruiting classes have been ranked near the top nationally the past few seasons, and Syracuse has a solid core this year in guards Tyler Ennis and Ron Patterson, and forwards Tyler Roberson and B.J. Johnson.
