Construction work will completely close the southbound side of Interstate 205 in Salmon Creek for two nights next week as crews continue work on a new freeway interchange.

Workers will close a section of I-205 at the Interstate 5 junction at 10 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation. The freeway will reopen at 5 a.m. the following mornings. The closures will also include the offramp from southbound I-205 to Northeast 134th Street, according to WSDOT.

All southbound traffic will be diverted onto I-5. Drivers heading to Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center from the north can use Exit 9 at Northeast 179th Street and follow a marked detour, according to WSDOT.

Workers are building a new bridge and interchange that will carry Northeast 139th Street up and over the freeways. Next week’s closures will allow crews to install wooden support structures to a new onramp connected to the street.

The work is part of the $133 million Salmon Creek Interchange Project, which is scheduled for completion next year.
