PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Pittsburgh Pirates have activated outfielder Travis Snider off the disabled list and called up pitchers Kris Johnson and Kyle Farnsworth from Triple-A Indianapolis.

Snider hasn’t played since July 27 due to discomfort in his left big toe. He was batting just .219 in 95 games at the time of the injury and figures to work off the bench after the Pirates acquired OF Marlon Byrd from the New York Mets on Tuesday.

Johnson will make his first career start on Sunday against the St. Louis Cardinals. Johnson pitched six innings of relief in his major league debut on Aug. 18 against Arizona. The left-hander was 10-4 with a 2.39 ERA this season for Indianapolis.

Farnsworth, a 15-year veteran, went 1-1 with a 4.06 ERA in six games at Indianapolis after signing a minor league contract with Pittsburgh on Aug. 16.
