A Washougal man was arrested on suspicion of DUI on Saturday night after an overloaded trailer he was pulling was blamed for causing a three-car accident.

The Washington State Patrol said Jack E. Webster 65, was driving a 1997 Ford Explorer with a trailer south on 99th Street in the right lane at 9:27 p.m.

The trailer, overloaded with household goods including a washer and dryer, started weaving and struck a 2004 Taurus driven by Mohamed Bensif, 34, of Portland in the next lane.

Then Bensif’s car struck a 2013 Toyota RAV4 driven by Ajay N. Veeraraghavan, 34, of Alpharetta, Ga. Five passengers in the three cars were not seriously injured, the patrol said.

Webster also was cited for reckless endangerment, the patrol said.
