CLEVELAND (AP) — The Cleveland Indians have activated outfielder Ryan Raburn from the 15-day disabled list.

Raburn, who hasn’t played since Aug. 18, was sidelined with a strained left Achilles tendon. The Indians, who are struggling to stay in the American League wild card race, have missed Raburn’s production. He’s third on the team with 15 homers in 70 games and is hitting .270 with 41 RBIs.

While most of his teammates have struggled offensively, Raburn, who was released by Detroit after a rough season in 2012, has exceeded expectations. He was signed as a minor-league free agent, but quickly became a valuable member of manager Terry Francona’s bench, appearing in right and left field, second base and designated hitter.

Last month, Raburn signed a two-year, $4.85 million contract extension that includes a $3 million club option for 2016.
