LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Louisville coach Charlie Strong says that redshirt sophomore running back Corvin Lamb will have season-ending surgery to repair a torn left anterior cruciate ligament.

Strong said Tuesday that Lamb injured his knee late in Sunday’s 49-7 victory against Ohio. He had 13 yards on four carries on a day the eighth-ranked Cardinals rushed for 199 and returned a fourth-quarter kickoff for 20 yards.

The coach says the injury “tough” for a player who had worked to become part of Louisville’s five-man backfield rotation. As a freshman Lamb had 50 yards and touchdown on 13 carries while adding three catches for 58 including a 53-yard score against Syracuse.

Strong also says that redshirt freshman tight end Hunter Bowles will have neck surgery on Thursday but wasn’t specific about his status.
