A 17-year-old boy was arrested Monday night after allegedly displaying a handgun outside of a North Image neighborhood bar.

Vancouver police were called about 10:40 p.m. to Jay’s Tavern, 5620 N.E. Gher Road, where a disturbance between a group of males and another man occurred in the parking lot, Sgt. Rod Trumpf said.

Someone in the group approached a man in the parking lot and demanded cigarettes, Trumpf said.

When the man declined, a verbal altercation followed where the 17-year-old displayed a handgun, Trumpf said.

The parties eventually separated. During an area search, police found the suspect down the street in a restaurant parking lot.

They arrested him on suspicion of unlawful possession of a weapon and unlawful display of a weapon. He was taken to the Clark County Juvenile Detention Center. The Vancouver Police Department did not release his name.
