Talking Points: No joke, Lebron working on sitcom

No joke, LeBron James is delving into sitcoms.

James will be an executive producer of “Survivor’s Remorse,” a new show he’s developing with Starz. The show, which James won’t star in, will explore the lives of two men from the streets who attain fame — one is an NBA star and one is not — and how they deal with friends and families in the wake of that success.

Before you write this off as another flight of fancy, keep in mind there are worse ways NBA players can spend their free time and money.

If all goes according to plan, the possibility of an FCS wins over one of the big boys of college football won’t exist much longer in the Big Ten.

The College Football Playoff is coming next season, and strength of schedule is part of the criteria the selection committee will use to determine the four teams.

That’s one reason Commissioner Jim Delany is encouraging Big Ten schools to keep FCS schools off nonconference schedules.

Or perhaps, given the Big Ten’s mediocrity, it opens the conference to embarrassing upsets.

Can’t get enough soccer?

A new semi-pro team, Vancouver Venom FC, will start play in May of 2014.

Unveiled as the eighth team in the Evergreen Premier League on Tuesday, Vancouver Venom FC joins Bellingham, Tacoma, Wenatchee, Seattle, Bremerton, Tri-Cities and Spokane.

The Venom are in early discussions to play at McKenzie Stadium by Evergreen High School.

It’s always nice to have a team representing Vancouver, as opposed to the larger Portland area. Talking Points wishes this new team luck.
