TACOMA — A Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman says a 19-year-old man who reportedly waved a chain saw at his father’s girlfriend and made threats about cutting people was shot and killed.

Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer says the young man was killed late Monday night during a dispute in Vaughn, northwest of Tacoma. Troyer says the woman’s 27-year-old son is believed to have fired the shot. The spokesman says that man has not been arrested because the shooting appears to be self defense.

The News Tribune reports the case will be turned over to the prosecutor’s office.

Troyer says the chain saw episode and shooting appear to be part of “a long-running feud.”
