Vancouver Rotary distributes $48,000 to local charities

Esther Short — The Vancouver Rotary Foundation, the charitable arm of the Rotary Club of Vancouver, has awarded $48,000 in community grants to local nonprofit organizations. The grants will be distributed at the annual Rotary Club of Vancouver Community Grants Luncheon at the Red Lion at the Quay on Sept. 25.

Here are the organizations and their awards:

o Big Brothers Big Sisters Columbia Northwest, $2,500;

o Boy Scouts, Cascade Pacific Council, $2,500;n Celebrate Life, $3,500;n Children’s Center, $5,000;

o Community Mediation Services, $2,400;

o Council for the Homeless WHO Shelter, $3,000;

o Daybreak Youth Services, $3,000;

o Foundation for Vancouver Public Schools, $3,800;

o Free Clinic of Southwest Washington, $2,250;

o Friends of the Children, $3,250;

o Innovative Services NW, $4,000;n Lelooska Foundation, $2,500;

o Lifeline Connections, $4,000;

o Salmon Creek Hospital Foundation, $3,000;

o Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, $2,500;
