College notebook: Conferences honor Clark County athletes

Athlete of the week honors from the NAIA Cascade Conference and NCAA Division III Northwest Conference were bestowed on several Clark County during the opening weeks of the 2013 fall sports seasons:

Women's soccer

CCC honors Kimsey

Concordia University senior midfielder Hannah Kimsey was named Cascade Collegiate Conference women's soccer offensive player of the week Monday. The Columbia River High School graduate leads the CCC with four assists and is tied for the conference lead with eight points overall.

Men's soccer

CCC honors Danciu

Concordia University senior forward Septi Danciu was named Cascade Collegiate Conference men's soccer offensive player of the week on Sept. 2. The Evergreen High School graduate, the returning CCC player of the year, had a goal and two assists in two matches the previous week.

Volleyball

CCC honors Sorensen

Eastern Oregon junior outside hitter Stefani Sorensen was named Cascade Collegiate Conference volleyball player of the week on Aug. 26. The Camas High School graduate had 87 kills in six matches during the opening week of the season.

NWC honors Aguiar

Northwest Conference junior defensive specialist Amber Aguiar was named Northwest Conference volleyball player of the week on Sept. 9. The Skyview High School graduate was named to the all-tournament team as the Lutes won two of three matches at the Washington University/ASICS National Invitational tournament. Aguiar averaged nearly seven digs per set for the Lutes in the St. Louis tournament.
