This morning, Friday September 13, 2013, at 5:25 a.m., East Precinct officers responded to the 122nd MAX Transit Station on the report that two suspects stole an iPad from a man riding the MAX.
Officers arrived and spoke to witnesses and the victim, a 62-year-old man, and learned that two suspects got on an eastbound MAX at the Gateway Transit Station and began being aggressive towards the victim, who was holding his iPad.
The victim is deaf and uses the iPad as his primary means of communication.
As the train stopped at the 102nd Transit Station, one of the suspects grabbed the victim's iPad and ran off the train and continued running South on 102nd Avenue. The other suspect, who was on his BMX bike inside the train, also left the train and rode South on 102nd Avenue.
Several officers canvassed the neighborhood but did not locate anyone matching the suspect's description.
The suspect who grabbed the iPad is described as an African American male, late-teens or early-20s, 5'9" tall, thin build, short black hair, dark-skinned, red t-shirt, light blue jean shorts, and black high-top tennis shoes.
The suspect on the bicycle is described as a white male in his late-teens or early-20s, 5'10", medium build, a Chinese symbol tattoo on the left side of his neck, a white t-shirt, baseball cap, black shorts, and riding a BMX bicycle.
