The Hockinson defense posted its second shutout in as many weeks in the Hawks’ win over the visiting Trappers.

It wasn’t until the second half that Hockinson really hit its stride, scoring two touchdowns, a field goal and a safety.

Hawks quarterback Jess Krahn threw for 155 yards and touchdowns to Cameron Loos and Nicholas Barclay, while Curtis Baker scored on a 6-yard run and Quentin Bodenhamer kicked a field goal.

Fort Vancouver was limited to 37 yards of offense. But the Hawks lead was only 7-0 at halftime. Baker, who finished with 100 yards rushing, scored in the third quarter to make it 14-0.

Coach Brian Schott said he did not expect to have two shutouts his first two games as coach at Hockinson.

“This is a tough league, and we can’t be content with just this,” he said. “We need to stay hungry and humble, and prepare for what’s ahead.”
