ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Carolina Panthers left guard Amini Silatolu will start against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday after missing the opener with a hamstring injury.

Silatolu’s returns provides the Panthers a boost after right guard Gary Williams sustained a season-ending left knee injury in a 12-7 loss to Seattle last weekend. Chris Scott started in place of Williams against Buffalo.

For the Bills, Pro Bowl safety Jairus Byrd was inactive for the second straight game. Byrd is bothered by plantar fasciitis in both feet.

The Bills’ defensive secondary is also missing starting cornerback Stephon Gilmore (broken left hand) and backup Ron Brooks (broken right foot).

Justin Rogers started in place of Gilmore. Da’Norris Searcy started in place of Byrd.
