LYON, France (AP) — Interpol has announced the arrest by Singapore authorities of 14 people believed to be part of an organized crime gang involved in global match-fixing, including the group’s suspected “mastermind.”

The global police organization says the 12 men and two women were arrested for soccer match-fixing following raids across Singapore in the early hours of Tuesday.

Interpol Secretary General Ronald K. Noble says, “Singaporean authorities have taken an important step in cracking down on an international match-fixing syndicate by arresting the main suspects in the case, including the suspected mastermind.”
