Historic Pearson Field will host an airport appreciation and open house event from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Celebrate Pearson Field will be hosted by Fort Vancouver National Trust, the City of Vancouver and Pearson Field Advocates for General Aviation.

The event is free. Activities include: a drawing for free airplane flights; a chance to climb inside the cockpit of a T-28 Trojan airplane; free hot dog feed from noon to 2 p.m.; and Radio Disney activities from 1 to 3 p.m.

Pearson Field, 201-A East Reserve St., dates to 1905, when Lincoln Bichey landed the dirigible Gelatine at the site. Regular U.S. Army flights at Pearson Field began in 1921 with the opening of a forest patrol base.
