If you're interested in becoming an Evergreen Habitat for Humanity homeowner, you have to attend an orientation first.
Evergreen Habitat for Humanity offers families and individuals with incomes between 30 and 60 percent of local median income the opportunity to obtain a home with an affordable monthly mortgage payment at 0 to 1 percent interest. A family of four with an annual income between $20,800 and $41,640 would qualify. Families must be willing to complete homeownership classes, contribute volunteer hours and save money to pay closing costs.
Three orientations will be offered in the coming days:
• 10 a.m. Saturday at Clark Public Utilities, 1200 Fort Vancouver Way;
• 5:30 p.m. Sept. 25 at Salmon Creek Methodist Church, 12217 N.E. Highway 99;
• 10 a.m. Sept. 28 at Vancouver Fire Station No. 9, 17408 S.E. 15th St.
"We hold orientations to get potential homeowners familiar with the requirements of the program, to answer their questions and make sure that Habitat's program is the right fit, "said Josh Townsley, executive director of Evergreen Habitat for Humanity.
