AUBURN– Fueled by Class 4A state title aspirations, the juggernaut that is the Camas Papermakers offense continued its steamrolling of early season non-league opponents.

After piling up a combined 95 points in its first two games, Camas had its best output yet. It came against Auburn Mountainview in a 69-24 rout Thursday night at Auburn Memorial Field.

“We have a lot of weapons out there,” Camas coach Jon Eagle said.

After Camas went three-and-out on its first possession, Auburn Mountainview (1-2) took advantage, putting together an 11-play, 64-yard drive and scoring first when Gresch Jensen hit Joey Cassano with a 24-yard touchdown pass.

Then the Papermaker offense found its groove and never looked back.

Quarterback Reilly Hennessey tossed a 20-yard touchdown pass to James Price to even the score at 7, and Nate Beasley’s 3-yard TD run on the next possession put Camas up 14-7 after one quarter.

The fireworks were just getting started, though. Camas (3-0) exploded for 34 second-quarter points, with Hennessey tossing two more touchdown passes while Cole Zarcone and Brian Kelly — twice — got into the end zone on the ground.

After missing on his first three passes, Hennessey finished the half 10 of 16 for 239 yards and three touchdowns. James Price caught two TD receptions, and finished with four catches for 105 yards.

“He’s sharp, he’s pretty sharp,” Eagle said of Hennessey. “I was impressed because he delivered a couple of throws where he stood in there and took a hit. He’s pretty sharp and he knows where the defense is weak. When he’s on, he can be pretty good.”

After a stellar first half, Hennessey only played a couple of possessions in the third quarter before taking a seat.

“We’re just a fast-tempo offense,” Price said. “We’re really building as a team, and every day we’re getting better. Overall, repetition turns into results.”

The Camas running game also showed off its depth against the Lions, as Kelly finished with three TD runs, and Zarcone added 80 yards rushing and two TDs.
