HIGHLAND LUTHERAN CHURCH will celebrate its 130th anniversary with a 10 a.m. outdoor service, followed by a potluck picnic. The church was founded by 11 Scandinavian and four German families who took turns using the church because of language differences. The original church is still used, but a new chapel and classrooms were built on adjacent land in 1959. Additional classrooms were built in 1968. The Rev. SOUP AND BREAD DISCUSSIONS
6-8 p.m. Wednesdays at Camas Friends Church, 1004 N.E. Fourth Ave., Camas. Meetings will begin with a simple meal and fellowship, followed by a time of focused teaching and discussion in the church community room. Discussion topics will come from the workbook, “Healthy Children, Healthy Planet,” assembled by the Northwest Earth Institute. The free series continues through Nov. 13. * 360-834-2446.

She will lecture and give workshops on Benedictine spirituality and practices. Schlick will speak about her experiences of living on the Colville Indian Reservation.
