ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) — Santa Anita has received permission to add a purebred Arabian race on the undercard of the Breeders’ Cup.

The California Horse Racing Board this week authorized the host track to add the race to the undercard on Nov. 1, the first of two days for the event. Gov. Jerry Brown still has to sign legislation approving the addition.

Jockeys in the race will be licensed professionals and pari-mutuel wagering will be allowed.

Emirates Equestrian Federation is a new Breeders’ Cup sponsor, and a race featuring Arabian horses would showcase the brand.
