HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) — Dae’Quan Scott rushed for 176 yards and 2 touchdowns to lead James Madison to a 34-7 rout of Charlotte on Saturday night.

Scott carried the ball a career-high 35 times, besting his previous mark of 32 which he set in the Dukes’ (3-1) win over Saint Francis a week ago.

Charlotte (2-2) scored just 30 seconds into the game, after recovering a JMU fumble on the opening kickoff, on Matt Johnson’s 8-yard touchdown run. The 49ers, however, wouldn’t score again.

James Madison piled up 522 yards of total offense, including 321 yards rushing, but turned the ball over five times.

Freshman Khalid Abdullah, who gave up his redshirt in the win, finished with 67 yards rushing and one score.

Charlotte converted just 3 of 16 third down opportunities and was held to 231 total yards.

Scott has rushed for at least 100 yards in every game this season.
