MADRID (AP) — Gareth Bale will not make his home debut for Real Madrid after getting hurt during warm-ups for the Spanish league match against Getafe.
Bale was originally in Madrid’s starting lineup Sunday, but he was scratched after Madrid’s medical staff was seen checking his left thigh.
Defender Raphael Varane, returning from a long injury layoff, took Bale’s roster spot, while Francisco “Isco” Alarcon replaced him in the starting lineup.
Bale had played in two games, both away, for Madrid after his world-record $132 million transfer from Tottenham.
