STORRS, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut is winless after three games for the first time in a dozen years.
So why all the optimism as the Huskies hit the road for the first time this season to play at Buffalo (1-2) on Saturday?
All three UConn losses have come out of conference and all have come at the hands of teams who haven’t lost to anyone either. Towson (now ranked No. 2 in the FCS), Maryland and Michigan are a combined 12-0.
UConn’s next two opponents, Buffalo and South Florida, are a combined 1-5.
Connecticut coach Paul Pasqualoni says the Huskies know that their goals and a successful season are still in front of them.
But to win, the Huskies must improve their rushing game. UConn is averaging just 52 yards on the ground, which is the worst of any team in the bowl subdivision.
