EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Kevin Gilbride has seen the New York Giants’ offense run into a brick wall before.
The offensive coordinator was the team’s quarterbacks coach in 2004 when the decision was made to let No. 1 overall draft pick Eli Manning play.
It wasn’t pretty right away, but the move led the Giants to Super Bowl titles after the 2007 and 2011 seasons.
The offense, which was supposed to be the strength of the team, has become a major question mark after a 38-0 loss to the Carolina Panthers last weekend. It gained 150 yards, allowed Manning to be sacked seven times, and did nothing against a banged up secondary.
Now the Giants will face the Kansas City Chiefs (3-0) on Sunday, and the offensive line will probably be missing two starters.
