Letter: Hold on to experience on council

The Columbian
Published: September 25, 2013, 5:00pm

At this pivotal juncture for Vancouver, we need experienced city council members. Jeanne Stewart won overwhelming victories in three elections, gaining experience in all aspects of city governance. She has consistently served with integrity and intelligence.

When honored by the 2008 Women of Achievement award, Stewart was described (in the words of Washington Irving) as “a spark of fire which kindles up and blazes in the dark hour of adversity,” and as “embodying the role of a strong woman.” Her lengthy résumé of community service is evidence of her commitment to lead on many fronts.

Many factors are important in a candidate: integrity, intellect, loyalty and independence. Stewart has all of those.
