DUBLIN (AP) — Rory McIlroy says he has ended his contract with one management company and is starting his own.
McIlroy began the process of changing management in May. He has been negotiating a settlement from Horizon Sports Management since then. It was not clear if his announcement Friday indicates the sides are close.
McIlroy says his business interests will be managed by Rory McIlroy Inc. The chief executive is Irish businessman Donal Casey, with business leader and longtime family friend Barry Funston in charge of The Rory Foundation. Both will serve on the Rory McIlroy Inc. board along with Gerry McIlroy, the golfer’s father.
It’s the second time in two years that McIlroy is under new management.
Horizon officials were on their way to Graeme McDowell’s wedding and did not immediately comment.
