A 74-year-old man held a burglary suspect at gunpoint until law enforcement arrived at his rural Yacolt house Friday morning.

About 10:30 a.m., Andrew Thompson found a man inside his house, which property records describe as a 468 square foot cabin on 4.86 acres of land.

Thompson used a firearm to keep the man at his residence, 20217 N.E. Dole Valley Road, for about a half hour until deputies arrived, according to dispatch information and information provided by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

When deputies arrived, they arrested the man, identified as Shane K. Meyer, 34, on suspicion of residential burglary, Sgt. Duncan Hoss said.

Meyer somehow got past the locked gate on the property and made access into the cabin through a broken window, Hoss said.
