Heinicke leads Old Dominion past Albany (NY) 66-10

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Taylor Heinicke threw for two touchdowns and rushed for another to lead Old Dominion to a 66-10 win over Albany (NY) Saturday.

The Monarchs (3-2) jumped ahead on Heinicke’s 8-yard touchdown pass to Larry Pinkard. Albany (1-4) came right back on a 55-yard toss from Will Fiacchi to Brian Parker to tie the score 7-7 in the first quarter.

The Old Dominion defense then shut down the Great Danes while the Monarchs exploded for 35 more points to finish the half, leading 42-7. Heinicke, the Walter Payton award winner last year, threw for 278 yards in the first half. He totaled 365 yards through three quarters before exiting the game. The junior now has 9,099 career passing yards.

Heinicke spread the passes around as he connected with 11 different receivers. Blair Roberts caught six passes for 92 yards. Pinkard had 80 yards on five receptions.
