Letter: Assault on Initiative 522 begins

Do you really wish to entertain your intelligence being insulted, and give credence to those who do such a thing? Initiative 522 calls for specifically genetically engineered foods to be labeled as such. Simple as that.

Meat and dairy products are held as examples where the law fails because the food may be the product of GE, but the “organic” label covers these examples plainly and is already under regulation. In the case of meats, if not labeled organic it would imply to such reasonable person that even if the animal was not GE, it was fed with what could be GE foods and one should make that assumption. If the animal itself were genetically engineered it would obviously fall under the law and require a GE label.

Don’t let them fool you. I’m insulted that I’m not given credit for even the most basic intelligence and logic. You should be, too. Vote for I-522.
