Hudson’s Bay grad’s estate gifts UP with $1.35 million

NO PICHudson’s Bay — Even though she’s passed on, Elizabeth A. James keeps on giving to the University of Portland. James, the valedictorian at Hudson’s Bay High School who went on to earn bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration from the University of Portland in 1977 and 1986, died in 2012 at age 57. But over the past year, her estate gifted UP with $1.35 million that helped renovate the Clark Library and established a business-school scholarship fund in James’ name. James worked for years as director of finance for Providence Health Systems, and volunteered for years as assistant treasurer for Glenwood Community Church.
