Clark College will celebrate the natural and digital worlds at its Arbor Day event at 11 a.m. Wednesday on the main campus, 1933 Fort Vancouver Way, just south of Cannell Library.

An Eastern hemlock and an Eastern white pine, state trees of Pennsylvania and Maine, respectively, will be planted in the campus arboretum, bringing the number of state trees to 39. The arboretum includes 100 Shirofugen blossoming cherry trees.

A student-created website cataloging the arboretum will be unveiled. The online map will allow visitors to use mobile devices to access descriptions of most trees on campus.

Zahid Chaudry, GIS Program Manager for U.S. Forest Service Region 6 will present the keynote address at the free, public event. For the fourth consecutive year, Clark has been designated Tree Campus USA by the Arbor Day Foundation.

Individuals who need accommodation due to a disability should contact Disability Support Services at 360-992-2314 or 360-991-0901(VP).
