Oregon reopens south coast to mussel harvesting

PORTLAND — The state Department of Agriculture says a portion of the south coast has been reopened to recreational and commercial mussel harvesting.

The area from Cape Arago to the California state line was closed to mussel harvesting a month ago after shellfish samples indicated unacceptable levels of paralytic shellfish toxins.

With Friday’s action, the entire Oregon coast is now open to harvesting.
