Bagley Downs garden needs help

The new Nicholson Commons community garden needs volunteers next weekend, each morning starting at 9 a.m., Friday through Sunday, April 13.

Getting the gardens prepped and planted is one way Bagley Downs community organizer Karen Underhill is “helping to re-energize a lost neighborhood association,” she said. Also organizing this project is Mark Maggiora of local nonprofit Americans Building Community. The weekend-long outing is aligned with Global Youth Service Day.

Nicholson Commons is a nine-unit affordable housing project of the Southwest Washington Community Land Trust. The address is 4912 Nicholson Road, but organizers recommend using the Jim Parsley Center parking lot at 4100 Plomondon St., walking northeast and crossing Nicholson at 50th Avenue.

For more information, contact Maggiora at 360-992-9969 or mark@abcinc.us.
