The community will salute 275 high school seniors headed into military service at 1 p.m. April 26 at Skyview High School.

The fourth annual event is hosted by the Our Community Salutes Committee of Portland, Vancouver and Clark County. The coalition of local veterans, educators, community members and business leaders includes the local Community Military Appreciation Committee.

The Our Community Salutes event is open to the public but seating is limited in the auditorium, 1300 N.W. 139th St.

“These amazing young men and women have taken one of the most difficult steps a high school-aged person can take,” noted a news release. “They have dedicated a portion of their own life to help make a difference in the world.”

Guest speakers will represent past, present and future military service members.
