The April 2 Columbian had two articles perfectly defining the GOP.
In one, “Ryan unveils House Republicans’ budget,” prominent Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., unveils a budget plan cutting food stamps, health care, and Pell grants, among other things. In another article, “Caterpillar criticized, lauded by lawmakers at hearing on tax strategy,” prominent Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., praises heavy equipment maker Caterpillar, saying it deserves an award for being astute enough to avoid $2.4 billion in U.S. taxes by sheltering it in a Swiss subsidiary.
If the GOP isn’t going to be more subtle in their contempt of the working class then even their base constituency may yet see the light.
