PORTLAND — A Gladstone, Ore., police dog handler has stepped down after a scathing report obtained by a Portland television station called his tactics into question.
KATU-TV obtained the report that found Gladstone police Officer Steve Mixson improperly released his police dog, Dyno, on at least four occasions.
Three officers and Mixson himself were bitten. On one occasion, Dyno bit an officer and permitted a suspect to flee.
Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office canine unit supervisor Sgt. Paul Coleman says he’s seen Dyno in training, and says Dyno is a good dog.
