The condition of a Bellingham woman is improving after she sustained injuries Monday in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 just south of Ridgefield.

Wanda K. Dodd, 48, was listed in satisfactory condition this evening. She was listed in critical condition on Tuesday.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Dodd was driving a Honda CR-V north in the right-hand lane when her vehicle struck the back of a Ford F-250 pickup around 1 p.m. Monday as the pickup slowed to pull onto the freeway’s right shoulder. Dodd then lost control of the Honda and struck a Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven in the center lane by Dennis G. Sarton, 60.

Sarton was flung from the motorcycle and died at the scene. The driver of the pickup, Eldon L. Ford, 33, was not injured in the collision, according to WSP.

The crash occurred near the Carty Road overpass.
