Letter: Commerce requires federal backing

The Columbian

Though I’m happy that the light rail will not be coming to our neighborhood, I wonder why not much is mentioned in the press about what I consider to be obvious: the current bridge is in need of repair or replacement, but that job is much too expensive for either state. The bridge is part of the interstate highway system, and the federal government should be responsible. The river commerce and trucking industry both need it.
