Clark baseball splits games at Chemeketa

Travis Eckert pitched a three-hit shutout Friday as the Clark College baseball team split an NWAACC South Region doubleheader against Chemeketa at Salem, Ore.

The Penguins won the first game 2-0 as Eckert struck out nine.

Clark scored both its run in the fifth inning. Zach Tyler and David Mason each singled and then scored with two outs as Michael Gonzales reached on an error.

Chemeketa won the second game 3-2 as both teams scored all their runs in the third inning. Clark was held to three hits, none of which came in the third inning.

Clark (16-8, 6-4) hosts Chemeketa (11-11, 3-6) in a doubleheader at 1 p.m. today at Kindsfather Field.
