Clark baseball shuts out Chemeketa twice

The Clark College pitching staff saw its ERA shrink even more as the Penguins posted a pair of shutouts Saturday against Chemeketa.

The Penguins won 9-0 and 2-0 to take 3 of 4 games from Chemeketa in the NWAACC South Region matchup.

Clark, who had an NWAACC-leading 1.14 ERA through 19 games, held Chemeketa to seven hits in the doubleheader at Kindsfather Field.

In the opener, Nick Gagner went seven innings with two hits, and Lee Jensen finished up.

Brayden Maney was 2 for 4 with a triple and four RBI, Kyle Vanderkin was 3 for 4 with an RBI, and Parker Franklin homered for Clark.

Colton Krueger pitched a complete-game three-hitter in the second game, striking out three.

David Mason was 2 for 3, and Boyd Lainhart drove in a run.

Clark (18-8, 8-4) next plays Lane in a four-game series. Friday is at Eugene, and Saturday at Clark at 1 p.m.
