Two people were hospitalized Sunday evening after a high-velocity, rear-end vehicle crash sent an SUV over a guardrail near the Salmon Creek trailhead in Felida, according to Clark County Fire District 6.

The silver SUV was traveling north over a hill on Northwest 36th Avenue around 6:45 p.m. when a northbound sedan traveling 70 to 80 mph crested the hill and rear-ended it, witnesses told fire officials.

The collision, just south of Creekside Drive, pushed the SUV over a guardrail on the right side of the road and caused the SUV to roll once before it landed on its wheels just feet from the Salmon Creek Trail. No pedestrians were hit, said Sarah Mitchelson, spokeswoman for Fire District 6.

Two people were sent to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening, Mitchelson said. Their names were not released, and Mitchelson said she didn’t know whether police would issue any citations related to the collision.
